Opioid Addiction Treatment at The Edge Treatment Center

Opioid addiction is a widespread issue, but with support, you can break free from the grip of addiction. See what opioid addiction treatment is like at The Edge.

Opioid addiction is a widespread problem that disrupts the lives of millions, driving more overdoses than any other drug type. It’s a severe condition that touches every aspect of life, from your mental and physical health to your closest relationships, often leaving victims feeling helpless and alone – but this is far from the truth. Treatment is available to help you overcome opioid addiction and reclaim your life. It all starts with reaching out for support, and staying committed to the process.

Your Struggle Is Our Priority

Opioid addiction doesn’t always start with illicit use. People can also become addicted to medications if they use them for a prolonged period, resulting in withdrawal once the prescription ends. Oxycodone, hydrocodone, and fentanyl are all examples of highly addictive-yet-commonly-prescribed medications.

Despite the source of your addiction, the symptoms and effects are the same: intense cravings and painful withdrawal symptoms, alongside issues with relationships and career that are often attached to addiction. We feel your struggle – but remember that you’re not alone, and by seeking professional help, you can break free from the grip of opioid addiction.

Our Compassionate Approach

Many of us have been through treatment ourselves, so we’ve been in your shoes. With years of experience on both sides of recovery, we know the nuances of addiction, and use our knowledge to help people like yourself reclaim your life. We do this in several ways, including:

Medical Detox

The first stage of treatment is detox, which is focused on flushing any remaining opioids from your system and managing withdrawal symptoms. The cravings and withdrawal effects are intense during this initial stage, and it requires close medical supervision. We maintain connections with reputable detox centers around the state to ensure that you’re cared for during the first steps of recovery.

Outpatient Treatment

Our outpatient treatment program offers the flexibility to live at home, work, and attend school as usual, while going to daily sessions and receiving the care you need. Your days here will include group therapy, activities like art and experiential therapy, and eating lunches from our in-house kitchen with your peers. You’ll join a supportive and tight-knit community, and have the opportunity to attend weekly and weekend events with friends made in recovery.

Sober Living Resources

For severe cases of opioid addiction that call for 24/7 support, sober living is a fitting option. Along with our detox connections, we can refer you to a recognized sober living facility in your area that offers a structured setting to support your journey.

Dual Diagnosis

Mental health disorders and addiction often coexist. This is because underlying mental health conditions can be exacerbated by substance use, and vice versa. According to recent statistics, people with a mental illness are twice as likely to have a substance use disorder, with the number rising to as high as 50% for those with schizophrenia. This calls for a unique approach that addresses both disorders simultaneously. With our teams of mental health and treatment professionals, we understand the twists, turns, and nuances of dual diagnosis, and are fully equipped to treat these cases.

Continuing Care and Alumni Support

Once you complete and graduate from treatment, you’ll step into our continuing care and alumni support program – one of few in the country. This stage and community is meant to help you stay connected as you maintain your sobriety moving forward. Services include individual therapy, virtual group therapy, outings with peers, and support calls so that you can receive sober coaching when you need it.

Therapies Used In Opioid Addiction Treatment

Opioid addiction is typically treated with a combination of therapy and medication, both of which we can support you with. From cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to group sessions and medication management, we offer a range of evidence-based treatments to guide you toward long-term sobriety. You can expect a blend of supervised medication management and therapy in both a group and individual setting.

Medications Used in Opioid Treatment

Medications like methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone are commonly used to help manage withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings. These medications work by interacting with the same brain receptors as opioids, but in a safer and more controlled manner. If you’ve previously developed an addiction to a prescription, we understand that you may be hesitant to try another. To put your mind at ease, we assure you that these medications will only be administered under close supervision and with specific protocols in place to ensure your safety.

What Is Outpatient Treatment Like at The Edge?

We take a unique approach to treatment. Rather than calling you a “patient” and churning you out as quickly as we can, we let you work at your own pace and comfort level, and give you the flexibility to re-enter daily life with confidence. Here’s what you can expect once you’ve joined our community:

The Facility

Our treatment center in Santa Ana, CA is designed to be your second home. Upon entry, you’ll be greeted by our welcoming front desk staff and check yourself in. If you want a snack before group sessions, the kitchen is your next destination, which has water, coffee, and some light food to keep you satiated. Group session rooms are clean and comfortable, with seating arrangements meant to foster discussion. Then, between sessions, you can either relax in the common area and watch some TV, play ping-pong with a peer, or take the time to process what you’ve learned. Treatment doesn’t have to be mundane or boring – and our facility is a clear example of this fact.

The Community

When you join The Edge, you become part of a broader community that always has each other’s backs. This includes both our clients and our staff. It’s not uncommon to make lifelong friends in recovery, and many of our staff members have gone through the stages of recovery themselves, so we deeply understand how addiction can take hold and the struggles it brings. With this tight-knit community of peers and staff by your side, you’ll be constantly supported as you progress toward sobriety.

The Activities

Along with our facility and community, clients love our weekly and weekend activities. We regularly host events like kickboxing and jiu-jitsu classes to keep you active, as well as outings to Disneyland, baseball games, and beach bonfires to get you outside and socializing with others in treatment. This form of experiential therapy is a powerful way to reconnect with the people and world around you, and is a cornerstone of recovery.

What Our Alumni Have to Say

James’s Story

“This is a very good treatment center that I’d seriously recommend. It’s a great place with great people, and you have freedoms, just don’t abuse them. Once again, I’d seriously recommend checking it out. They take all kinds of insurance.”

Theodore’s Story

“I spent about a year in this program, and I can honestly say this place changed my life for the absolute best. The team there is unlike any other. Treatment is taken seriously and the people you meet will be some of the most interesting people you’ll come across. I love The Edge!”

Why Act Now?

Not seeking treatment for opioid addiction can lead to some serious risks. Overdose is a major danger and can be fatal, since opioids can stop your breathing. Long-term use can damage your liver and heart, and increase the risk of infections like HIV and hepatitis. Mental health issues such as depression and anxiety often get worse, leading to feelings of hopelessness, and the risk of accidents and violence increases due to impaired judgment.

Addiction can also strain your relationships, cause job loss, financial problems, and legal issues, making you feel even more isolated. Acting now and seeking treatment can help you avoid these risks by providing medical support, counseling, and a structured path to recovery, offering a path toward a healthier and safer future.
